"William Michael Beckman - December 12, 2014. William was our miracle baby. My wife and I were told by the fertility doctors that it was highly unlikely that we would ever be able to get pregnant on our own. William proved them wrong. In early 2014, my wife, Michelle, learned that she was pregnant. William had defied the odds. Would the medical community deem him a medical miracle? Maybe not. It didn’t matter. He was a miracle to us. We decided to leave the sex a mystery. We carried him with us for over 9 months. He was right next to us the whole time but we didn’t know he was our little boy. We wanted it to be a surprise. So along he came with us…to the movies in the winter…to music concerts in the summer and to pumpkin patches in the autumn. Our miracle…our little boy. We lost our little boy during the last week of Michelle’s pregnancy. We found out he was gone on the day he was to be delivered, December 12th, 2014. That day was the worst day of my life. That day was the worst day of Michelle’s life. We struggled to find answers. We found none. We tried desperately to not blame ourselves…we were not successful. It’s been over 3 years now since we lost our little boy…we are still asking why? Putting the pieces back together. When you lose a child, every day after that is a fight. Michelle and I never stopped fighting. Not giving up doesn’t make the pain go away but it does allow for good things to enter your life again. Annually, we support the March for Babies in DC to honor our son William. This photo was one of hundreds captured on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018.
