BEETs Fundraiser 2024
CommunityGrows is proud to present our 2024 BEETs Fundraiser! Our Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens (BEETs) Program is a paid internship and hands-on learning experience for youth of color aged 14-19, where they acquire, learn, and enhance job readiness skills such as timeliness, organization, communication, interviewing, facilitation, and leadership skills through learning about environmental justice and gardening with a small group of peers.
Historically, our BEETs program has prioritized serving students who live in the Western Addition and Fillmore districts and highly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth to apply.
Currently, we are able to hire around 10-15 BEETs interns per cohort (2 each year) but always experience a high volume of applicants of 50+ or more. With our current capacity, we unfortunately have to turn many down or redirect them to other organizations. Your support through this fundraiser would allow us to expand our programming, helping us to provide equitable wages, field trips, and program materials for even more youth. Your support will also allow us to create an immersive, culturally competent, and fruitful experience for these teens, setting them up to be collaborative, compassionate, and effective leaders in their communities!
