About this campaign

For the price of a shirt, you can help support first-generation students!

Through your support, more events centered around community building and the advancement of first-generation graduate students will be possible. As the first in their families to achieve higher education, first-generation students forge new paths so that others may follow in their footsteps. However, this often includes increased barriers with less access to resources for educational success. With the funds, we will put on a variety of events that enhance the first-generation graduate student experience: workshops, professional development, mentorship programs, and more.

The Association for First-Generation Graduate Students (AFGS) is an emerging group on Campus with the goal of increasing visibility for and supporting first-generation students!

Our team came together to create this original design to display the first-generation identity and pride. As we go on our journeys, we find comfort and support in community, depicted by the stars continuing to raise one another up.

United by a drive for education and linked together by the first-generation student experience, we traverse our own adventures, forever connected by the legacies of those who came before us and those who will come after us. Being first-generation is often an invisible struggle, but together we can support one another, learn to harness our resilience, and ensure our success.
Support for this fundraiser will directly fund events for students surrounding professional development, workshops, outreach efforts, and community building events to strengthen the first-generation graduate student network!
