The University of California, Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Laboratory (CSSL) has been conducting cutting-edge scientific work related to weather, climate, and water resources for over 75 years. Originally developed in 1946 as part of the Cooperative Snow Investigations program between the National Weather Bureau and Army Corps of Engineers, the lab has made significant contributions to the fields of snow physics, meteorology, climatology, and hydrology. In addition, the CSSL also maintains some of the longest snowfall and snow depth climatological records in the world from 1879 to present! We are constantly implementing new measurements, research, and ways to engage with the broader community. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have the support of so many.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used strictly for snow lab operations, including site maintenance, implementing new instruments and outreach programs, supporting our everyday science, and supporting students of all ages that come to visit or work at the snow lab.

For more information on us and what we do, please see our websites at: https://cssl.berkeley.edu and https://vcresearch.berkeley.edu/research-unit/central-sierra-snow-lab. Or, visit our gift fund page at https://give.berkeley.edu/fund/FH5846000.
