Help Ranger's Refuge welcome 25 pigs to Gallastar!
Ranger’s Refuge at Gallastar is giving sanctuary to 25 pigs whose owner recently passed away. The decision to do this means that they will need to add additional fencing and shelter, and be prepared for the added veterinarian costs.
About this campaign
From Lorelei Pulliam at Ranger's Refuge: For over a decade, a special friend took care of her beloved rescued pigs. She did it right. She did it quietly. She did it alone. When a very serious health issue forced her to face the reality that she needed to find new homes for her pig children, she reached out with humility and a broken heart to anyone that might be able to help. With thousands of pigs in need everywhere, she found no homes for her old pigs. Cute piglets maybe, but not old pigs who in the next few years will need vet care, special diets and special facilities to keep them healthy and comfortable.
She has now tragically left us. And her small group of 27 have to be off her property by May 7.
Ranger’s Refuge at Gallastar, is going to give them sanctuary. Next week will begin the process of moving them to their new home. Two will travel on to Shepherd’s Green senior center, the rest will stay at Rangers Refuge for the rest of their lives. These pigs are in bonded groups and these bonds will be honored. They will not lose each other too.
This undertaking means a huge increase in fencing, power and water to provide everything they need without depriving their fellow residents. Estimated at $8000 to get it all in place, we need your help. Look at these faces. All they have left is Hope. We can’t let them down.
