About this campaign
Freeze Dont Shoot will march on April 25th, 2015 in efforts to bring awareness to Law Enforcement Officers who encounter family dogs and use lethal force by shooting and seriously injuring or killing them. This is an increasing incident and the devastation is felt throughout the country. FDS wants to bring awareness nd ask that officer canine en ounter t aining is mandated in all law enforcement agencies. That officers are required to wear and turn on body cams when responding to calls. We also want officer accountability in the form of charges of Animal Cruelty filed, prosecuted, and restitutuion paid to the victim families funded by the shooting officer instead of it being a burden upon the tax payer. We want lethal force to be the last resort in an encounter situation. We also expect that a thorough investigation from an outside agency be conducted without prejudice. When a shooting occurs we ask that the officer be ut on npaid a inistr tive lea e until he inves igation s completed nd action is determined If off er is ound neg igent an the sh ting i other t en justi ied, we ant th officer in question to go through a mental health evaluation to determine the risk they may impose on the public if they return to duty.

Freeze Don't Shoot (our dogs) will not only save our furry family members, but humans as well... as officers learn other responses to drawing their gun and shooting first.
Police should be better trained to handle situations with dogs! Not every dog needs killing just because you can say it was charging you and you "feared" for your life!
This senseless killing of family pets must stop! Secondly, EVERY law enforcement agent, no matter how long they have been with the force should be REQUIRED to have animal behavior classes - just as California is implementing.
