About this campaign
https://operationmigration.org For 15 years Operation Migration(OM) used aircraft to guide endangered Whooping cranes on a migration route leading to survival of the species. Now that the aircraft-guided crane migrations have ended, we remain committed to building and monitoring the Eastern Migratory Population.
OM remains committed to safeguarding Whooping cranes and we will continue working with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership on new reintroduction methods for the Eastern Migratory Population. This year we are costume raising a small cohort of Whooping cranes at White River Marsh in Wisconsin. In late August they will be released, very much like the Direct Autumn Release cranes were released in previous project years. In September our team will assist with Parent Reared Crane releases and will monitor the young cranes as they explore the Wisconsin landscape and until all young-of-year cranes begin to head south for the winter.
We look forward to working to attain a self-sustaining flock, which continues to migrate between Wisconsin and the southeast states.

I've supported Op-Mig for years now, and am still not comfortable with the dismantling of the organization. But I know the people who cared so much still care, and will do what they can. They deserve my support.
I have no idea how I got started with the cranes. We went so far as to travel to Wisconsin to the see the cranes. I think it was a mistake to discontinue the ultralight let migration and am willing to support this good cause.

As a former Teacher, I had my 2nd Graders monitor the ultra-light led migration from Wisconsin to Florida for 10 years. It was an amazing way to teach a variety of disciplines. We all developed a passion for Whoopers!
