About this campaign
The Canine Advocacy Program (CAP) was created in 2009 to provide a highly trained Canine Advocate that would accompany a child victim to interviews as well as court appearances.
CAP was developed by its director, Daniel Cojanu as result of an idea from a coworker while employed as a Victim Services supervisor. After researching various programs around the country, it was felt that Michigan desperately needed such a program to assist child victims who were going to be required to testify.
With a relationship spanning ten years, CAP has partnered with Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, MI to utilize career-changed leader dog candidates for the program. The result of this relationship has been extremely successful, with 30 Canine Advocates spread throughout the State of Michigan. These well-trained dogs are currently utilized by 22 County Prosecutor’s Offices, four Child Care Advocacy Centers, and three Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Programs.
The work of these Canine Advocates has been widely accepted by many courts throughout the State of Michigan.

We are honored to be a part of the program. Every single day!! Thank you C.A.P. , Dan, Stantons, and all the dogs, owners,& handlers..... Lance is a blessing to our family, and seeing him and Dan do great work with brave children is an honor.
I love CAP and everything it represents. In a world where there is darkness and pain, CAP provides light and hope in order to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Having worked in a court, I've seen firsthand the positive impact these canine heroes make in a daily basis!
