A mantra my daughter and I use for taking on hard things, even when we'd really rather not. Now we're putting it to work in a whole new way as she takes on cancer.

About this campaign

27 AUG 2026 UPDATE: Jessi underwent an 8-hour surgery on 08/26 to remove the 17cm mass, a lymph node, and as much cancer as possible in surrounding areas, safely and meticulously. She is recovering, but in pain, and could use continued prayers. There is still cancer in multiple places that will be addressed with chemotherapy in the coming months.

THANK YOU for all forms of support to date!!! Prayers, messages, and donations. We can't wait to see people sporting their "DON'T GET BEAT BY A BURPEE" shirts and sending photos to Jess!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our daughter was recently diagnosed with teen ovarian cancer, and our family is still finding our footing as we learn what the next several months will hold.
As her mom, I was preparing to start a new position when we got the news (that requires five day in-person work and no phones). We simply don't know yet what our daughter will need in the months ahead, but we know we need the flexibility to be there for appointments, school, treatment, and whatever else comes.
Buying a Don't Get Beat by a Burpee shirt or hoodie helps give our family some financial breathing room during that time.
If you'd like to support us beyond buying a shirt, prayers are appreciated, and there's also an option to make an additional donation.
Thank you for being in our corner.
“Don’t get beat by a burpee” is a mantra between my daughter and me.
It started, quite literally, with burpees.
I had shared with her how I despise them but fight through anyway because I know they’re good for me. Somewhere along the way, it became shorthand between us for doing the hard thing, even when we’d really rather not.
Recently, we were talking about something hard one of us needed to do when she turned the phrase back on me:
“Don’t get beat by a burpee.”
Apparently, it had sunk in.
Now we need it for something much bigger.
As our daughter takes on cancer, our whole family will be taking it on alongside her. There is a lot we don’t know yet, but we do know there will be hard things ahead that none of us particularly wants to do.
So we put the words on a shirt.
Maybe you have a burpee of your own right now. Something hard, uncomfortable, scary, or simply something you’d rather not have to do.
Whatever yours is, don’t get beat by it.
