As part of the expansion of my short documentary "Thought & Memory", funds from shirt purchases will go towards hiring a composer for the feature length film and cover additional costs of production to expand the film.
The raven stands as a highly intellectual animal recognized by scientific research and oral tradition. Often portrayed as a trickster, omen of death, and even the bringer of creation and destruction, it has been the target of intrigue spanning across beliefs and cultures.
The film “Thought & Memory” highlights the importance of the raven in science, myth, and oral tradition from cultures throughout North America. The production emphasizes access to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the Pacific Northwest, and New York to capture the diverse interpretation of the raven as a highly intelligent species in these regions and abroad. A variety of scientists, writers, indigenous tribal members, and artists help paint a picture of the significance of the raven across these topics.
Braeden is a documentary filmmaker, scientist, and artist, and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Science & Natural History Filmmaking.
He earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences with an Honors Baccalaureate from Montana State University and merges his passions for the arts, sciences, and communicating prevalent issues in the natural world through compelling storytelling and films.
Inspired by a life spent in the Rocky Mountains of Montana and Wyoming, he is most at home in the outdoors and hopes to share the same interest with a broad audience through film, photography, art, and science.
As a filmmaker and artist, his interests are guided by the relationships between people, the sciences, and their impact on and interactions with the world around them. With years of experience in biological science instruction and research, conservation projects, and documentary filmmaking, his work aims to inform the public about the unique realms of science, natural history, and everyday life that can be observed through a scientific, cinematic, and approachable lens.
With an emphasis on expository, poetic, and vérité modes, Braeden’s work explores the realms between scientific inquiry and public understanding covering a range of topics.
