"Our friend Liz was diagnosed a couple weeks ago with Colon cancer at 32... this was the note we sent to our friends... Liz had a dream to run NYC so she did what everyone has to do and put her name in the lottery. After 4 years of submitting her name and not getting the opportunity to run the she was automatically in for the fifth year. The dream would come true in November 2011. But then she had a minor toe injury that prevented training for the race. You are allowed to default one year after your acceptance, so that's exactly what Liz did, she delayed her run for one more year. Summer 2012 comes along and Liz starts her training up. She gets her miles in, spends early mornings lapping the lake and cross training getting ready for an amazing race. This time Hurricane Sandy came along and wrecked havoc on Liz's plans. All that hard work, the blood sweat and probably tears for her to not get to run the 5 boroughs put on hold until 2013. So that brings us to 2013. Liz's dream to complete the NYC marathon is on hold again. This time she has a much bigger battle to face so that one day she can complete the NYC Marathon. Since Liz can't complete the 26.2 on Sunday, which is the day of the NYC Marathon, WE (her family and friends) should do it for her and call it The Lizathon! Every one of us can walk or run a mile to help get the 26.2 miles in for her. ... We decided to do this on Tuesday and the race was on Sunday, big thanks to the CustomInk team helping us pull off the logistics in no time.
