"These t-shirts were designed and sold as a fundraiser by 14 year old girls to raise money for a wonderful cause! Rwanda Gift for Life, serves women in Rwanda who were raped during the country’s 1994 genocide, and as a result, contracted the HIV virus. Many of these women have children to support, and all of them lack the help of family members who were among the 1,000,000 who died during the 90-day genocide. Rwanda Gift for Life ensures that women in rural areas have transportation to medical clinics where they receive medicine to keep AIDs at bay, healthy foods, trauma counseling, and school supplies and uniforms for their children. With the assistance provided by Rwanda Gift for Life, women who had no hope are now glimpsing futures for themselves and their children in which they can earn adequate livings and support one another in the challenges of daily living. This photo is so special because it is intergenerational, but the work was done by the girls who have been seriously committed, and raise funds through bake sales, placing jars in local stores,etc. Girls for Life:Rwanda was formed by the girls when they were 12, committing themselves to raise enough to support one woman on the program through high school. They are truly fabulous! The T-shirt is a beauty. Stephanie
