The carriages are part of the magic of New York! Keep them rolling!
I have had and raised horses for 40 years in Iowa. I am well aware of the fate of excess horses and that is where these horses would go . I follow what is happening on Jon Katz's blog. The animal rights people are very WRONG in this endeavor.
I lived in NYC for about 15 years in 1950's an '60's and loved the horses and their drivers! It's a great part of NYC!!
Totally believe in saving the horses and carriages. I grew up in NYC and have since written books in which they appear. It's an important part of the charm of the city. This will be a one term mayor if he does this!
Save these wonderful, well cared for, horses . "Big money" wants the land the stables occupy. Why should so many suffer for that?
What a difference it could make if the millions of dollars spent on trying to ban the carriage horses would have been spent on saving horses truly in need of rescue. It's truly mind boggling.
Banning the horses, who are well-cared for and providing good jobs for their owner/drivers, is not only stupid; it's elitist and un-American!
