About this campaign

Growing up, we just assumed "orbisculate" was a word. Our father, Neil Krieger, had been using the term ever since he invented it back in college to describe that moment when you dig your spoon into a grapefruit and it squirts juice directly into your eye. In fact, we only discovered that the word was made up after losing a $5 bet to a friend over whether or not it was in the dictionary.

Our father passed away in April from Covid-19, and this word is hardly the only legacy he left us. He also taught us the value of finding a way to laugh even in dark times; of following your own path; and of making up your own solution to a problem whenever you don't like the ones in front of you.

So we thought a fitting way to honor his memory would be to try to get his word into the dictionary (plus, maybe it would help us get our $5 back). We're launching a campaign to do exactly that, which you can read all about at www.orbisculate.com. Wearing these T-shirts is one fun way to spread the word, and it's also a way to support a wonderful charity.

Carson's Village
is an organization that helps grieving families in the aftermath of losing a loved one, which you can read all about at www.carsonsvillage.org. The charity helps with everything from funeral arrangements to grief counseling. We've gotten to know them over the last few months and see their commitment to helping those in need, so we have decided to give 100% of the proceeds from our T-shirt sales to them.

This is a beautiful way to celebrate life. Plus, I want you to get that $5 back - I always knew there was a word for that.

I think that this is a great way to honor your dad, and as someone who has lost both my dad and mom and who understands how hard it is, I think that this is a good charity to support.

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. What a wonderful way to honor your father’s life, creativity and sense of humor. Growing up I too learned many “words” from my dad only to find out when using them, that they were made up.
