About this campaign

Growing up, we just assumed "orbisculate" was a word. Our father, Neil Krieger, had been using the term ever since he invented it back in college to describe that moment when you dig your spoon into a grapefruit and it squirts juice directly into your eye. In fact, we only discovered that the word was made up after losing a $5 bet to a friend over whether or not it was in the dictionary.

Our father passed away in April from Covid-19, and this word is hardly the only legacy he left us. He also taught us the value of finding a way to laugh even in dark times; of following your own path; and of making up your own solution to a problem whenever you don't like the ones in front of you.

So we thought a fitting way to honor his memory would be to try to get his word into the dictionary (plus, maybe it would help us get our $5 back). We're launching a campaign to do exactly that, which you can read all about at www.orbisculate.com. Wearing these T-shirts is one fun way to spread the word, and it's also a way to support a wonderful charity.

Carson's Village
is an organization that helps grieving families in the aftermath of losing a loved one, which you can read all about at www.carsonsvillage.org. The charity helps with everything from funeral arrangements to grief counseling. We've gotten to know them over the last few months and see their commitment to helping those in need, so we have decided to give 100% of the proceeds from our T-shirt sales to them.

It's a great word to describe an event we have all experienced.

I will also honor my father who loved “the King’s English” and was funny. Plus my wife always makes up new words accidentally which I believe is a condition but we aren’t sure what the word for that is!

I love words that are multi-syllables and you can wrap your tongue around, and I just love the background story!

The fun and to honor those who have died due to COVID-19.

When I read the word and began reading the article, I could clearly see the fantastic humor your father had. You were fortunate to have spent the years you had with him. He made me laugh out loud in the first 10 seconds. What a guy!

Losing a father is tough. I lost my father 4 years ago tomorrow. I also forwarded the story from CNN to my favorite local NPR show.

Love this idea, made my day to read about it. Hope it works and you get your word in the dictionary. I will add it to my vocabulary immediately!

I’m sorry for your family’s loss. I am inspired by your journey to honor your father. Good Luck!

More people should be like Neil. This is undoubtedly a good cause.
