"I serve on the board of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky (DSACK) and am the mother of four children, one of whom has a third copy of his 21st chromosome--Trisomy 21, also known as Down syndrome. On 3/21/18--World Down Syndrome Day--DSACK hosted a breakfast for legislators and a rally at the state capital in Frankfort. We attended, spoke with people who work with the governor, and had our photo taken in the governor's office. We are encouraging the governor to support policies that enable people with Down syndrome to learn, work and live as independently as possible--contributing to our communities, versus being forced only to take from them. Our shirts, printed by Custom Ink, read: "A 21st chromosome is a rare and wonderful thing," and the words are in the shape of a unicorn. "
