About this campaign

While there is nothing cuter than a little kitten or puppy, leaving them homeless and abandoned is not. Despite the enormous progress that has been made since the 1970s, there is still a huge problem of pet overpopulation in the United States. Shelters are particularly overwhelmed during the spring and summer when cats and dogs breed. Longer periods of warm weather exacerbate the problem and prolong the time frame for breeding. If left unaltered, kittens and puppies will grow up to produce multiple litters that will most likely find their way into already overcrowded and underfunded county shelters across this country. Pregnant moms will be dumped there, too. These will be the lucky ones. They have a chance to be saved; however, many more will not. Others will be left to fend for themselves on the streets or much, much worse.

Organizations such as PetConnect Rescue work endlessly to answer the desperate calls of these shelters, which rely on us to ensure that these animals escape euthanasia. We take as many dogs and cats as space can provide and make sure that animals entering our foster care are spayed or neutered, are vetted, and find responsible, loving homes. Otherwise, there would be little to no hope for them. To continue our mission, resources are key! These valuable resources include fosters, donors, volunteers, and supplies. Please help us care for these precious animals and send a message to our communities.

Winnie Babiespng

Winnie was one the of the pregnant mom’s that we recently brought under our wing. Winnie’s family did not realize that she was pregnant when they got her from a breeder. They were unequipped to deliver and care for her puppies when they arrived. Having heard of our great reputation, they contacted us to see if we could help. PetConnect Rescue agreed to step in, have some prenatal vetting completed to assess the health of Winnie and her unborn puppies, and to foster the new family once Winnie’s puppies were born. Well… Surprise! They are here! New arrivals as of 6/1/18. PetConnect Rescue will be caring for the mom and puppies until the puppies are weaned. We will then adopt the puppies to forever homes, and Winnie will return to her family.

Priscilla Olivepng
Priscilla and Olive are just two of the countless kittens that need to be rescued from shelters. They are both still looking for their forever homes. More cats enter shelters than dogs each year. As a result, more are also euthanized due to sheer numbers.

Together, we can break this vicious cycle. Altering pets is the best way to prevent pregnant moms, litters, and future pets (both adults and babies) from becoming a statistic.

This summer, let's get off to a great start by saving as many lives as we can and spreading the word! Rescue, Foster, Adopt, Repeat!
