Brave. Funny. Nice.

I lost my Mom on August 15, 2016 after a quick, 8 week battle to Cancer. My Mom and I had a very special relationship. She described it best when talking to a hospice nurse, "We're like a unit; this is going to be really hard on her." Somehow, through a terrifying battle, she didn't complain and was more worried about me-the best display of a mother's love. When faced with a terminal diagnosis, said she wanted to be 3 things while in the fight of her life.... Brave, Funny and Nice...but she already was ALL of those things- her entire life. The last 4 months without my Mom have been brutal. I'm slowly learning to turn my grief into gratitude and continue her motto of being brave, funny and nice. Our desire for a t-shirt came from wanting her to be remembered and somehow included on our cruise. Back in July, my Mom planned for us (her, myself, my husband and our three small children) to go on a cruise together this January. My Mom never made it to January, but in her last week here, she made me promise we would still take the kids. Her final gift to us. After sharing the idea of the t-shirts...our extended family and friends wanted one too. Jeana Green from CustomInk truly went above and beyond. She was so kind, patient, understanding and genuinely cared that the shirts came out perfect. I knew, that she knew-just how important these shirts were to me and that kind of caring made all the difference. We wore these shirts on our first Christmas without her (as pictured above) and when we all participated in random acts of kindness in her honor. We will continue to wear these shirts often as a reminder that she really IS always with us. Thanks for such beautiful way to honor my Mom.
