BYSO's Intensive Community Program Poses In Their New Tees at Summer Camp

"At BYSO, we firmly believe in the power of exceptional classical music education to change lives. Our students receive a transformative music education – one that is rooted in excellence and shapes their life path through the development of life-long skills such as self-confidence, team-work and leadership. BYSO believes that all young children should have the opportunity to experience extraordinary music programing and the life-changing impact it can have. Unfortunately, these experiences are not a possibility for every child.In 1998 BYSO created the Intensive Community Program (ICP), a rigorous instrumental training program, in response to financial and cultural accessibility barriers preventing students from Boston’s inner city from auditioning into BYSO’s orchestras and participating in our high-quality programming. ICP aims to serve students from populations traditionally underrepresented in the classical music field and in BYSO. Students enter ICP with little or no music training (around age 4 or 5), and after 2-3 years of training and support they are typically prepared to successfully audition into one of BYSO’s prestigious orchestras, with the objective of reaching BYSO’s top level orchestra, Boston Youth Symphony (BYS). Students are provided the resources they need to be successful in BYSO orchestras and beyond, including financial aid for orchestra tuition, weekly lessons, use of an instrument, positive mentorship and an array of support services until they graduate from high school. Each ICP student strives for excellence through the challenge of learning to play an instrument. Through discipline and creativity, individuality and teamwork, students accomplish personal and group goals. The results are young people who develop high aspirations and love to work hard towards excellence both musically and personally. This year ICP celebrates 20 years! We were excited to try out a new tee through Custom Ink, and we worked with our students on coming up with the design. Everyone loves the tee, and when our students ran an instagram takeover, guess what was the first photo to be featured? This one, of several of our students modeling the tee! We are always so happy with the service and level of care by Custom Ink, from start to finish. We went through several different designs and hours of design process before coming up with this final design, and Custom Ink was helpful in making it look its best in all colors and sizes.
