"These students all believe strongly in equality, especially LGBTQ marriage equality. Our Quaker middle school has a student-led gay/straight alliance club called GLOW, which stands for "Gay, Lesbian, or Whatever!" Students work to advance the causes of gay rights in our state (NC) and to ensure that no bullying occurs in our school. In this photo, a group of GLOW students, wearing their new student-designed turquoise shirts, had just finished presenting about how and why to start a GSA in middle school. They spoke to middle schoolers and their teachers from Central Park School, another school in Durham. 40 interested students showed up at lunch to hear their presentation! Next fall we hope to sell these t-shirts at the Durham PRIDE Festival to raise money for InsideOut, a local organization that supports LGBTQ youth. These are brave kids! Let it GLOW!"
