Hastings Striders 3

"This is the Hastings Runners Hastings Striders shirts at the Armory Indoor Relay Marathon on Sunday March 26th. This is the second year for this event. The event organizer, Norbert Sander, created the event to raise funds for the Armory College Prep program which he founded which assists underserved middle and high school track and field athletes with academics and paves the way for them to go to four-year colleges. Norbert, a former NYC Marathon winner, revitalized the Armory in 1993 from a homeless shelter to a premier track and field venue. Norbert also worked tirelessly to improve the school running events for his home town of Hastings. The event was sad for the teams as Norbert died unexpectedly on March 17. Norbert's wife and daughter ran on two different teams and finished the event together on the track. All the runners completely a lap together at the end of the event.
