"In Memory of Scott" Team

"This picture was taken at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2015 Out of the Darkness Overnight Experience on Saturday April 25, 2015, in Dallas. We walked a total of 16.8 miles that night. The net proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, advocacy, survivor support, education & awareness programs....both to prevent suicide & assist those affected by suicide. I lost a son, Scott, on April 3, 1996, to suicide....just 5 days before his 18th birthday. Suicide death is complex & complicated. My prayer is that through this kind of awareness the stigma associated with suicide & mental illness will begin to be chipped away. Our team was made up of me, my 2 daughters...Angie & Emily...& a dear friend Martha. This summarizes my thoughts: "Your heartache is someone else's hope. If you make it through, somebody else is going to make it through. Tell your story." ~ by Kim McManus" - http://www.theovernight.org - The 2015 AFSP's Out of the Darkness Overnight Experience in Dallas, TX (Apr 27, 2015)
