Journey Out of the Darkness with Conversations With Tigers

"The pandemic of suicide claims the lives of more than 38,000 people in the United States alone. Every 14 minutes someone dies from suicide in our country. It's the second-leading cause of death among college students. These gruesome statistics unearth a population of millions of survivors such as myself and my friends and family members who are left paralyzed in the wake of such inexplicable losses. Six months ago I lost the most important in my orbit to suicide. No one should have to experience this type of loss. From June 1-2, I walked 16.5 miles with the four other members of my Conversations With Tigers team and thousands of fellow Americans across our nation's capital to bring national focus to the issue of suicide prevention. We exceeded our team goal of raising $10,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the leading national not-for-profit organizations dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education and to reaching out to survivors of suicide and those who suffer from mood and mental disorders.
