La Cañada High School 7/8 Stand Up to Bullies Event

"La Cañada High School 7/8 held its Anti-Bully Week, Nov. 3-7. This year's theme was "Stand Up" and activities throughout the week focused on the damaging effects of bullying and cyber-bullying. The week long campaign was designed to give students tools to stand up to bullying and make good choices. The week ended with a rally event on Friday, Nov 7. The event included celebrity speaker, actor Max Adler who plays a former bully on the TV show Glee, a concert by Capital recording artists Los 5 and culminated with the aerial photo you see. After the concert we had a 15-minute window to distribute all 800 Customink t-shirts, the 7th graders are in red, the 8th graders in black, and get them out on the field to spell out the theme which was photographed by helicopter. Needless to say, it was controlled chaos but as you can see we pulled it off with the help of our dedicated staff and our PTA "mom army." After the photo the students had their t-shirts autographed by band members and Max Adler, so for many their Customink shirts will become treasured mementos of a special day! The event ended with the entire school treated to lunch by Jersey Mike's.
