Let's go to kindergarten!

"A healthy lunch is just one part of a busy kindergartner's day in Charlotte, North Carolina! To promote a successful transition to school, Child Care Resources Inc. and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools launched the Ready, Set, Go! video series and community awareness campaign. During the summer, every public elementary school and licensed and license-exempt child care provider in Mecklenburg County received a 4-part Ready, Set, Go! video series and comprehensive set of resource materials, to help families prepare young children for kindergarten. The district celebrated Kindergarten Day at its elementary schools on September 5. More than 11,000 students throughout the district, and Superintendent Peter C. Gorman, wore green Ready,Set, Go! T-shirts to let everyone know they were ready to GO to kindergarten! CMS pre-kindergarten specialists estimate approximately 23,000 pre-K students viewed one of the videos in the series, Making the Move to Kindergarten, since it was released just one year ago.
