"This picture is not just one of my class -- it represents diversity, courage, strive to move forward, and the strength to be unique and stand out in a crowd. I am a special educator. While most people say, "it takes a special person to teach special education," I would disagree completely and instead like to promote that my students are special and deserve their own recognition for all of the amazingness they possess. They don't always get the acknowledgement that they deserve and for that reason, we continue to celebrate Disability Awareness Month in March (please note, last year's t-shirts) to honor who they are and what they mean to this educator. I am the lucky one to teach them, and THEY are the special people in my world. Thank you for supporting us, for helping us spread our message, and for being so great to work with!
