"the event was Making Strides against breast cancer. It was a 2.5 mile walk at Elm Park in Worcester, MA on October 20th, 2013. We named our Team "Peanuts Gallery" as "Peanut" was my moms nickname and we lost her just over a year ago to lung disease.
we had 31 walkers in our group (friends & family)
My family had a big eye opener this year as we had a couple illnesses reach us close to home. I myself was diagnosed with colon cancer in February at the age of 42. Mine was found by shear luck and in its very early stages. I have been treated and in the clear thus far. 3 weeks later my oldest sister (Debbie) was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer. It has been a struggle for her, but she has lots of support from all of us! She joined us in this walk, and I must say she was thrilled to be there as a "survivor"! I can personally say that the events that have taken place this year has changed the way I look at everything... especially the little kids and the elderly I look at them all! I could spend hours just watching people now, I feel so lucky, and notice just how many people have it worse then myself!
