Students Opposing Slavery International Summit, June 2018

"We created these t-shirts for the sixth-annual Students Opposing Slavery (SOS) International Summit. Hosted at President Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington, DC, the week-long Summit reminds teen abolitionists that while Lincoln drafted the Emancipation Proclamation here, and although the 13th amendment passed in 1865, slavery unfortunately still persists today. Human trafficking and modern slavery are huge issues that affect millions around the country and world even in 2018. This year we welcomed twenty-three students from over five states and four countries—including Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, and Indonesia—to the Summit where they learned about modern slavery from leaders in the anti-trafficking field, and created awareness campaigns they then would bring back to their communities. Each SOS participant received a t-shirt the very last day of the Summit; the t-shirt is another tool for their outreach campaigns, a statement to remind people that the fight for freedom continues today." - http://www.lincolncottage.org/ - sriddle (Jul 23, 2018)
