The World-Famous Eunice Symphony Orchestra

"We had our totally wonderful first "Park-estra" concert on October 3. The weather was beautiful, and the town really turned out in style. It was such a rousing success that we hope to make it a yearly tradition! I am sending you this picture of a sampling of our group under the gazebo in our Circle Park, the only park in our community of 10,000. The older man in the wheelchair is one of our staunchest supporters, so he made the photo, even t-shirtless. Our orchestra is all volunteer, and has a membership of about 55. Our motto is "The only symphony on the Cajun prairie..." There is actually no string program in any school anywhere around here. So we are the one and only opportunity for many -- young and old -- to learn a string instrument and play in a symphony. We are in our fifteenth year now, rehearse year-round, and will now be adding our Park-estra concerts to our seasons. We play classical, Beatles, Broadway, Cajun (yes, Cajun) and even Adele and Queen. So we are pretty diverse, and do pretty much whatever we want musically. We have lots of fun. Wanna join? You can!
