"Ballard Theatre of Liberation is a group of high school student and staff researchers who are collaborating on a dissertation project at the University of Washington. We are investigating the use of interactive theater as a way to increase cultural flexibility among high school students (that is, their ability to move easily among different social peer groups). We're especially interested in how this work can facilitate a greater sense of belonging for students of color attending a mostly-white high school.
We scrambled to take this photo on the last day of school. We will continue working together in smaller groups over the summer and then resume our research as a larger group in the fall.
