"Our taiko group contracted Joel Nakamura to create a mascot for us-Spider Guy. He is printed on the front of our shirts. Torii Taiko member Dyan Yoshikawa designed her own font to create our logo which is printed on the back of our Ts and tanks. (Not visible here) We presented Program Notes at the Lensic Performing Arts Center to educate audience members about the Japanese art form of taiko. Our 30 minute show talked about the drums, the sticks, the history, and the rhythms of taiko. This gave context to the show of the evening’s famous headliner-Drum Tao who are from Japan.
Just like we needed to rehearse in advance for our show, we needed to prepare our artwork, create designs, select shirts and styles for men and women and get them all printed and shipped in time for our show-without a rush charge. I usually like to work with one point of contact on a job like this. But, different Custom Ink team members were able to pull up our files and help complete the order. This photo captures us at the end on a piece called Omiyage-gift. Our arms were only in that position for a moment. Though we ordered these for our performance season, we will also create a store or a campaign to share these creations with our fans. "
