"Some of Clatskanie People's Utility District employees are pictured in the
photograph as they show off the shirts they received for participating in a
Walking Across America Wellness Program. The Clatskanie People's Utility
District (CPUD) encourages health and wellbeing for all employees. The CPUD
understands the value of a healthy employee; therefore, they are constantly
coming up with new ways to inspire and engage employees to be active and
aware of their health. The goal is to have employees not just participate
in wellness programs, but make life changing choices. This year the CPUD
rolled out a new program encouraging employees to track their steps and Walk
Across America. This was great for employee health and an excellent form of
awareness for each participant. Individuals became aware of how much (or
little) exercise they actually got in a day. This was at times, very
eye-opening. Out of approximately 40 employees we had 31 participate. In
only 9 weeks we walked across America as a team (of course without really
having to leave the NW). The employees traveled from Delaware on the east
coast, to California on the West. The program was a success! It has been a
fun process that the District hopes not only has inspired their employees,
the employees families, but the community as well. By wearing these shirts
on casual Friday, Clatskanie PUD employees will continue to draw attention
and hopefully remind and motivate members of the community to get out and
walk more."
