"This year, our team for the Los Angeles Revlon Run/Walk for Women changed its name to the Dancing Cancer Warriors and participated with the biggest group yet - not only was this the first year with our new team name but also the first year with our new team shirts by CustomInk!
Our team was created in honor of our friend and cancer warrior/survivor, Lulu, who has a rare form of cancer she has been fighting for 20 years. She is a dancer, but didn't want her name included in the team name, so we came up with this new name in honor of her... and I knew we had to pose as dancers! Our team not only included Lulu, but two other survivors - 3 cancer survivors total - in addition to kids and adults.
I decided to design the shirt directly on the CustomInk site, because I was running out of time to design it on my own (I've used both options in the past with CustomInk). Once I created a draft, our team captain suggested adding a ribbon, which was the finishing touch the design needed - and voila... the beautiful shirts were on their way! We definitely stood out in our bright pink shirts at the run - as we danced circles around cancer - and our second motto became "Real Men Wear Pink" for the male members of our team... and they did - wore the shirts with pride. We also got a number of smiles, recognition after the event with "that was you guys? I saw those!" and one survivor even asked to dance with Lulu in the survivors tent - a favorite part of the day for me!"
