"There's a saying here on Earth. A very old, very wise friend of mine taught me it: 'an injury to one is an injury to all'. And when people act accordingly to the philosophy, the human race is the finest species in the universe."
We're eager to tell the world that our charity partner for this event is akt!
akt supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. They help them find safe homes and support with things like employment, education, and training, in an environment that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities.
Much like Captain Jack, these incredible volunteers open their doors at the most critical moment, providing safety and shelter when it is most needed.
Our support of akt will help pay for the "emergency support packs" and "tenancy starter packs" that are made available to those young people who are at risk of homelessness or harm simply because of who they are.
"Early twenty-first century slang...is 'cheesy' good or bad?"
There's really nothing on this world or any other that can compare with the presence, the persistence, or the pride of our beloved captain. He's lived countless years, traveled countless planets, faced countless adversaries...and dated countless sentient beings. Celebrate all of it with the official Harkness Invitational 5k event shirt! It doesn't shy away from anything, and when you're wearing it, neither will you!
Available in multiple fabrics and styles from tees, to tanks, to long-sleeves, proceeds will also support akt!
For some extra fun, the optional 'run day' for the event is Monday, May 17: International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. If you'd like to join hundreds of others across Planet Earth completing some or all of the distance on that day, you'll be in some wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey company!
