"We created a team called Miss Joan's Heroes to run and walk in the Four Seasons Parkway Run in Philadelphia. The event benefits pediatric cancer research and survivorship at an amazing place, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Our team runs in honor and loving memory of my mom, Joan, who was a teacher at CHOP. She taught the children who were in the hospital long term. Her teaching enabled them to keep up with their education so they could stay in the same grade level when they returned to school. She privately and courageously battled cancer while teaching her young students fighting the same disease. She was a phenomenal woman who touched and positively impacted the lives of so many."
