"I've been helping my pal Steve build a fly-in vacation lodge on Decatur Island in the San Juan Islands of Puget Sound for the past 8 years. This spring, the lodge was finished and dubbed "Hedgehog Lodge" (a longer story). Steve's remarkable plan, to build and share this beautiful place with as many people as possible has long been inspiring to me. Determined to celebrate, and to confirm Steve's vision by getting a group of family and dear friends to commit to spending a week at the lodge, I invented "Camp Hedgehog", a week-long stay at the end of July. This picture shows the early crew at Camp Hedgehog, and the Northstar Super Cub, one of the planes we use to ferry guests to the lodge. I really wanted to surprise Steve and his family with T-shirts and didn't think there would be time to pull it off, but CustomInk made it possible! I snuck a quick smartphone photo of a cartoon hedgehog Steve had drawn on a post-it note on his fridge, converted it to black and white, and finished the design on the CustomInk website. After a little help choosing the right shirt, the order was ready, and a rush on shipping got it here on time. Anyone who spent at least one night got a T-shirt. I hope to continue the tradition for years to come!"
