Theta Phi Alpha is a social sorority that was founded as a Catholic sorority at the University of Michigan in 1912. Theta Phi Alpha now opens its doors to women of all faiths and celebrates the diversity of its initiates. Theta Phi Alpha members recognize Saint Catherine of Siena as their patroness, and they borrow one of her quotes—“Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring”—as their motto. The sorority supports Glenmary Lay Missioners and The House that Theta Phi Alpha Built; both philanthropies help low-income and/or homeless individuals.
